The CITB Skills and Training Fund is a pot of funding set aside from Levy payments that construction companies pay to CITB each year. Construction companies who are CITB registered and are up to date with their Levy Returns can apply for funding of up to £50,000 per annum to train their workforce.
There are two different funding pots available:
- Small and mirco-sized businesses with up to 99 employees
- Medium sized businesses with between 100 and 250 employees
As of 1st September 2023, companies are able to process two funding bids every 12 months. Contact us for more information or for support with your application.
You can apply for CITB Skills and Training Funding if:
- You are a CITB-registered employer
- You have 1-250 directly employed staff on the payroll (employees must be in addition to yourself / business owner)
- Any previous project paid for by the Skills and Training fund has been signed off as complete.
The amount you can apply for per year depends on the size of the business.
Small and micro-sized construction businesses:
- Employers with 1 to 49 directly employed staff can receive up to £10,000.
- Employers with 50 to 74 directly employed staff can receive up to £15,000.
- Employers with 75 to 99 directly employed staff can receive up to £20,000.
Medium-sized construction business:
- Employers with between 100 and 149 directly-employed staff can receive up to £30,000.
- Employers with between 150 and 199 directly-employed staff can receive up to £40,000.
- Employers with between 200 and 250 directly-employed staff can receive up to £50,000.

Once you have applied for your funding, the CITB team will assess your application. They take around four weeks to make their decision.
If your decision is declined you need to notify as soon as possible to skills.training@citb.co.uk.
CITB may decline your funding request due to:
- You asking for funding on a course that doesn’t relate to construction.
- Your application doesn’t contain the required information.
- You have not submitted a Levy Return.
- You are behind on Levy payments.

CITB EMPLOYER NETWORK
Employer Networks have been set up to make it easier for local employers to access training, funded by CITB.
The CITB Employer Network is a CITB funded initiative designed to simplify how construction employers access training and funding. In a bid to encourage employers to upskill their workforce CITB is offering each registered employer funding of up to £25,000 each year to use towards training requirements.
